Aminu Shuaibu, a 27-year-old laborer, was charged with theft of nine packs of rubber toys valued at N54,000 on Thursday before a Sharia Court sitting in Kano.
The accused thief resides in Kofar waika Quarters, Kano, and is facing theft charges.
Insp. Abdullahi Wada, the prosecutor, informed the court that on July 3 Kamilu Muktar, a resident of Darmanawa Quarters, reported the incident to the Fagge Police Station in Kano.
Wada claimed that the defendant broke into the complainant’s shop through a window and made off with nine packages of rubber toys valued at N54,000.
However, the accused entered a not guilty plea.
Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, the presiding judge, granted bail to the defendant in the amount of N20,000 and set the matter for mention on July 21.
