A court sentenced the marijuana dealer to 10 years in prison in 2023.

A federal high court in Kano number 3 has sentenced a man Muhammad Bako Sambo to 10 years in prison, a cannabis trafficker and he is not the only one who has been caught in the act. Daily Nigerian Hausa reports that Sambo is among the seven drug traffickers arrested by the National Drug Trafficking Agency NDLEA and arraigned before Justice S.A Amobeda in October next year. According to the public relations officer of NDLEA, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Sambo was sentenced to 10 years in prison as per the story.

Sambo, whose work includes transporting large quantities of marijuana from Ondo and other states from the South to the North, was arrested on November 11, 2020 and confirmed that this is his permanent job. The NDLEA officers patrolling the road from Kano to Zaria showed suspicion when they stopped a Honda car which at first refused to stop while they were trying to stop this car. He added that after the suspect was arrested in area in Kano state, an investigation was started at the headquarters of the agency where they arrested him for all the crimes. According to Maigatari, the investigation led to the discovery of 201 kilograms of dried leaves believed to be tobacco, adding that it was also discovered that he was a resident of Lokogoma in Abuja.
